ISTD and IDTA exams
Our main focus during the next term and a half will be working towards dance exams. The majority of these will be in October and I will forward the dates as soon as I can. We will be assessing the children during class over the next few weeks and deciding which exams they will be ready for. For many of our students this will be their first time taking exams. I wanted to give you a brief insight into what you can expect and our ethos as a dance school when it comes to our students taking part in examinations.
We only enter students when they are ready and would not put students forward if we felt it wouldn't be a positive experience for them. All our students are unique and we develop them at their own pace which means that we may not enter the whole class at the same time. This is usually the case for our older students. We treat exams as a celebration of what our pupils have achieved and all their hard work. Every mark is celebrated and we promote that a good work ethic and continued dedication will help our pupils achieve their goals. Regular attendance to class will be required to be entered.
We recommend that all students wanting to take the ISTD ballet exams attend two ballet classes each week. We do offer technical ballet classes for students in grade 2 and above on a Wednesday. If you would like further information please let me know.
Private Lessons
I will also be opening up private lesson slots for students who would like some additional one to one tution. These can be used for extra exam tution, entering competitions, career development or if there is an area in which the students wants to build confidence or develop their knowledge further. These will be available on a first come, first served basis and will be offered in block of five lessons starting on the Monday 25th April at a cost of £75.00 for the five weeks.
What else is coming up?
I am busy planning and researching some exciting events for the next term and up to October. Once these are finalised I will send out dates for the diary. I am hoping to have some fun fund raisers, professional workshops and much more stay tuned:)
