Charlotte Thompson
AISTD, DDE
Founder & Principal

Charlotte trained professionally at The Urdang Academy in London, studying all styles of dance, drama and singing gaining a 3 year Musical Theatre diploma.
​
Whist training she also completed teaching qualifications with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance).
After graduation Charlotte performed in both the UK and abroad. In 2009 Charlotte opened classes for the under 5s using the Melody Movement pre-school programme and the following classes were extended to older children and Dance Theatre Arts Academy was born.
Charlotte is passionate about making sure all students have achieve the best of their ability whilst having fun in a friendly environment.
Miss Jess
DDE
Tap, Jazz & Acro Dance Teacher
Miss Jess started dancing at a very young age at Nicola's school of dancing where she took part in many shows and other events throughout her dance journey.
Eventually she decided to train as a dance teacher with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance) gaining her DDE dance teacher qualifications.
Miss Jess has been teaching at the DTA Academy for 10 years and is great asset to the team.
Miss Ileana
Singing and
Musical Theatre Teacher
Ileana is a singing teacher and jazz vocalist based in London.
Originally from Rome, she trained in classical and contemporary singing, holds a degree in Jazz from Licinio Refice Music Conservatory and a PGCert in Vocal Pedagogy from Cardiff Matropolitan University.
With a career spanning since 1997, Ileana has performed extensively across Rome and London.
She began teaching in 2005 and has been a valued member of DTA Academy since 2017.
Ileana loves bringing the joy of music to children and teaching the magic of musical theatre"
Miss Karyn
Street Dance Teacher
Karyn began dancing at a young age and trained at the London Studio Centre University where she gained a BA Hons Degree in Jazz Theatre Dance. Karyn has over 10 years experience teaching in various school across Essex.
Karyn has been teaching at DTA now for over 3 years teaching Street/Commercial dance and has enjoyed every moment.
James
Drama Teacher
James has directed and written theatre across the U.K. and the Middle East. He has taught Acting for many years, including LAMDA grades, BTEC Diploma, and BA musical theatre. Most recently at Dubai Performing Arts.
James joined DTA Academy in September and his classes have quickly become popular with our students.

Louise
Teaching Assistant
Louise started dancing at DTA at the age of 3 and has taken numerous
ISTD and IDTA exams in a number of styles. She has also performed in numerous DTA shows, Disneyland, Paris, competitions and many local events whilst attending as a student.
Louise now assists the teachers on a Saturday and is very popular with the younger students who look up to her as a role model.
